Floating Market

Floating Market

Sawadii Kah—-With a little Thai learned and expert Motorcy taxi customer(especially after I hit the side mirror of  an on coming car with all my shopping bags and favorite waffles which I lost during 6:00 rush hour traffic),  I am officially saying Good bye to Thailand!!  There are so many things to say which I may comment on later but it is time to pack up and head to the good ol’ USA.  Asia is one of my favorite places and I can’ t wait to go back but it is now time to go home for at least a year to have some fun renewing more relationships with my family and friends in Louisiana and Mississippi.  I have a new job teaching Kindergarten again in the town where I graduated high school and I start on Monday.   Also,  I will be working and training for the foreign mission field with Map 1040 and hopefully moving to Asia one day soon!  If you would like to be on my prayer team or support me financially, please let me know!!  If I can pray with you personally or privately, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.  You all mean so much to me.  I couldn’t have done any of this without you and your prayers…Thanks again!

I Did It!

The Whole "Khrew"

The Whole "Khrew"

I did it.  I prepared my lessons and taught my 1st official adult class on “Qualities of an Effective Teacher” to this whole group of teachers which are called “crew” in Thai.  I’m not to sure how “effective” I was but I received a few compliments and I know at least one person thought about what was said for a couple of days . I also taught 2 small group sessions with the preschool “crews” on Classroom Management and Creative Teaching.  All in all, I saw the Lord’s hand in it and He really gets all the Glory because it was everything He allowed me to learn!  ICA(International  Christian Assembly) was a great church for me to start out in especially since over 30 nations are represented at the church.  Can you imagine having so many nations in one place at one time…My mind was blown several times…Ha, not only at this church but in this city as a whole.  I don’t think there is not one country NOT represented here.  The whole time I have been here, I have had a partial song in my head, “Every tribe, every tongue, every nation, Hallelujah!”.  What a BIG God we have to have created sooooo many different people who all come under one umbrella, you might say!  Thanks, ICA Children’s Ministry for letting me serve you!

An Amazing Opportunity!

Passing Out Books of Hope

Passing Out Books of Hope

For the last 3 1/2 years, I have gone to church in a building owned by Book of Hope and some of my very best friends work there.  As a teacher and lover of books, I have always secretly had a desire to help pass out these books.  Did I mention that I actually helped simplify a version of  this book into 3 and 4 letter words for early literacy readers?  Well, Jaimee and I got to travel with a Book of Hope team about 2 hours NE of Bangkok to the Kanchanaburi area and help present the book.  I got to share my testimony to high schoolers and pass it out.  Another special memory made.   This area also is well know for the elephants, temple of the tigers and the River Kwai.  It was amazing to touch each animal and take picture with them but it just didn’t supercede the opportunity to I got to see an actual WWII momument for American Soliders on foreign land.  I am truly thanking God for all He has given me!!

A Surprise!

Monk

I had a great surprise as I got to experience life in Thailand during a major Buddhist holiday similiar to our lent and Easter.  An intense spiritual time to say the least but it was just like life goes on and keep pressing in closer to Him!!  Also, every house and building basically has small spirit houses in a corner of each lot. That houses the evil spirits and the people actually greet them every morning on the way out.  Oh, lets pray that believers would be that loyal to greet Jesus every morning and evening as we wake up and law down.  What a deep, living relationship we would have before we get to heaven.  My heart is once again broken because Buddhist don’t believe in life after, especially heaven.  Thailand is 99% Buddhist.  Will update more soon!

My Weakness!!

July 18, 2008

Thank God for Starbucks! Deanna(the blonde and an AG Missionary here in Bangkok) and I went to have a cup of Joe while we prepared our presentations for the Children’s training that we will be speaking at on Sunday. Jaimee(far left) and her Thai teacher(far right) decided to join us and have their Thai lesson there as well.   It just so happened to be the 10th anniversary of Starbucks being in Thailand!!  You know I was loving it and so needed it after having some CRAZY adventures on the street like getting a haircut in a Thai saloon, exchanging money at a very busy place that had quite a convenient hard place to write on like a Buddha altar and got shooed away from(OOPS!) then getting caught in the rain with no taxis around.  We finally found a motorcycle taxi which mine got separated from Jaimee’s because we had to go slow and I am so much bigger.  The driver was not used to my bigness and he was trying not to get me hit or splash me so needless to say I started to get a little nervous but it all worked out…Could it get any better?? Oh yes, today we went back to exchange money and I got a  pic of the Buddha altar and got shooed away again.  I don’t think I will go back there!!  Another fun thing was hosting a game night for all the AG Bangkok missionaries and a visiting team from Alabama!  More fun stuff to come!!
